Description
He was the son of the supreme god Zeus and the Titaness Leto. He was born as the twin brother of the goddess of the hunt Artemis on the island of Delos. Immediately after birth, he defeated the terrible dragon Python with arrows under Mount Parnassus, thus cleansing the region there and taking control of the sacred place.
Apollo was one of the most important Greek gods. While other gods often acted in affect and brought chaos, Apollo represented reason, order, harmony and clear rules. The Greeks saw in him the ideal of beauty and civilized behavior.
