Hovsep Pushman (1877 –1966) was an American artist of Armenian background. He was known for his contemplative still lifes and sensitive portraits of women, often in exotic dress. This is a rare painting a portrait of Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1836 – 1911) at an advanced age a teacher in Académie Julian in Paris where Pushman studied.
