Painting on canvas. The thangka in the original silk border depicts the medicine buddha mandala of Bhaishajaguru (master healer). In the middle of the detailed mandala sits the Medicine Buddha, holding a blossoming branch in his right hand, holding an alms bowl in his flat left hand, surrounded on four sides by the Dhyaani Buddhas of the cardinal directions. In the upper part, Buddha Amitabha is depicted in a group of buddhas, in the lower dharmapala Yama (god of death) surrounded by a group of important protectors of the teachings, such as Sridevi, Vajrapani, Rahula, Dorje Legpa, Dorje Dolo, etc. The detailed fine painting is significantly complemented by gilding.
