Roman Franta (*1962) is a prominent Czech painter and educator known for his original use of insect motifs. His works, which include portraits and abstract structures made from beetles, often provide an ironic commentary on contemporary society. Franta, who studied at Prague's AVU and in San Francisco, has received numerous international awards and a nomination for the Jindřich Chalupecký Award for his work, which is held in major Czech collections like the National Gallery.

About Jindřich Pileček: This artist, who lived from 1944 to 2002, became famous as a graphic artist and illustrator with a focus on precise drawing. After studying at the Karlovy Vary School of Fine Arts, he continued in the studio of Professor Svolinský at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. In his rich career, he combined free graphics with architectural realizations, with nature being his main source of inspiration. He became particularly famous for his dreamy landscapes, which he processed using the techniques of the old masters, as well as for his rich illustration work for bibliophile prints. He was an active member of the Hollar Society and the Union of Fine Artists. His legacy is preserved by prestigious institutions including the National Gallery in Prague, the Prague City Museum of Fine Arts and the National Literary Monument.

German pharmacist and botanist. He is known primarily for his work PhytanthozaIconographia.

8 volumes of 1025 sheets with over 4000 studies of a wide range of flowers and plants, including ornamental garden flowers (especially tulips), pineapples and other tropical plants or trees, desert plants such as aloes and cacti, fruits and mushrooms, as well as various colorful exotic species and wildflowers. This is one of the most comprehensive and high quality color florilegia ever created.

The Old Jewish School in Prague

The copperplate engraving depicts the interior of the Old School synagogue, which stood in Prague’s Josefov district. Demolished in 1867. It was the oldest synagogue in Prague’s Josefov district.

Published by the I. L. Kober bookstore and publishing house, operating from 1846 to 1949. The business was founded by Ignác Leopold Kober (1825 to 1866).
