Japanese armor, Edo period

Modern tōsei gusoku armor in yoko hagi okegawa dō design with an alternative yaro-to kabutó created by covering boar hair over a zunari kabutó three-shell helmet, complete with maedate inscribed ”Namu Hachiman dai bósacu” (I invoke the great Bodhisattva Hachiman) with a mempo face mask in me no shita bō design, all with sabiji nuri (old iron lacquer) finish. On the cuirass there is “Snake’s eye” – ancestral emblem of the Kató clan. Shikoro and kusazuri with fluted surface (kiritsuke), with Oda kote armor sleeves, gourd-shaped fittings (hyotan), sukage-style lacing with loom (odoshi ito) dark blue color (Hachimanguro), tsutsu suneate.

Katana Sukesada 16th century

Katana, signed Sukesada (Bishu Osafune Sukesada), from the 16th century. Blade signed (mei), Suguha hamon, length 68 cm. Parts of fuchi, kashira, 18th century iron cuba decorated with archaic characters. Menuki bronze and chiseled in the shape of flowers.

Wakizashi

Wakizashi mumei, i.e. no signature, excellent high hamon on the blade. Fuchi, kashira with Japanese everyday items with inlays in gold. Menuki in the form of Japanese drums. Saja in black lacquer with gilded brass finials.

Ottoman shamshir 19th century

Ottoman shamshir made between 1800 and 1840 with a handle made of horn. The original scabbard is all in silver mounting. Silver is decorated with period engraving. Curved blade made of very high quality fine damascus (woods). Overall in perfect condition. The owner could be an Ottoman officer or a nobleman.

Napoleon's Illyrian Provinces (1809–1813) were an autonomous part of the French Empire, which Napoleon created after his victory over Austria to cut it off from the sea. They included present-day Slovenia, the coast of Croatia (Dalmatia, Istria), part of Austria and Montenegro. The capital was Ljubljana. After Napoleon's defeat in 1813, the territory was reoccupied by Austria, which created the formal Kingdom of Illyrian there, which existed until 1849.
