Karel Toman (1889 – ?): studied at the State Vocational Weaving School in Prostějov, where he acquired the basics of painting under Prof. Christián and then, during his service in a military hospital during World War I, he continued his artistic education under the guidance of his friend, the painter Mervart. He spent two years in Gorizia, where he intensively created and exhibited. He lived and created most of his artistic life in Moravia. He also designed posters and illustrated magazines.
