Roman Franta (*1962) is a prominent Czech painter and educator known for his original use of insect motifs. His works, which include portraits and abstract structures made from beetles, often provide an ironic commentary on contemporary society. Franta, who studied at Prague’s AVU and in San Francisco, has received numerous international awards and a nomination for the Jindřich Chalupecký Award for his work, which is held in major Czech collections like the National Gallery.
