St. John of Nepomuk

John of Nepomuk refused to reveal the confession of Queen Sophia to King Wenceslaus IV, which led to his martyrdom (a gesture of silence—a finger placed over his lips). In the lower part of the painting, beneath a cloud, a bridge is depicted (symbolizing the Charles Bridge in Prague) from which his body was cast into the water.
