Franz Joseph I (1830 – 1916) was Emperor of Austria and King of Bohemia from 1848 to 1916. He ascended the throne at a young age and reigned for a long time. He gradually moved towards constitutional government, implemented reforms, and became a respected figure. His personal life was full of tragedy, including the deaths of his daughter and wife. He had a strong sense of duty and was conservative.
